Sufficient Conditions

by adam at 02:17 AM on June 15, 2006

While discussing his trip to Iraq today, the Prez said that his visit gave him confidence in the ability of the new Iraqi government to get the job done. My question is, what might you have seen that would have reduced your confidence in the Iraqi government? I suspect that this question has no answer. There is nothing Bush could have seen that would have reduced his confidence in Iraq, and this makes this so-called confidence entirely meaningless.

Brudda keeps talking about "winning," but I don't have any better of an idea of what this means now than I did last year. No matter what we do, we will only lose; lose young men and women, lose good will in the world, lose credibility. Even if we accomplish our goals in Iraq, whatever those are, what is it that we'll have won? What threat to our safety will we have removed? What have we done to make Iraq safer? None, and nothing. I don't like saying it, but that doesn't make it less true.

It's Bad over there, and so it's BAD over here...
Basically the Laws of Attritrion will eventually end all GOOD and BAD...

In other news, my dick is so small, even for an Asian guy.

Well, on the upside men, women, and children are no longer being executed in a football stadium. That's a fairly glorious thing to sing about. The people of Iraq can speak freely about how much they hate you, too. S'all good, winning stuff.

Confidence in the Iraqi government could stem from the reality that your insane 'one weapon per household' gun laws are getting booted out by the Iraqi president, so we might see a reduction in armed civilians a.k.a 'insurgents', shooting American servicemen and women. I reckon more servicemen have died by the weapons that the occupying forces have allowed the civilians to have, than from weapons fired by fanatics apparently from neighbouring regions representing obscure terrorist factions. I also reckon Bush representing America would have put the idea forward himself were it not for the fact that his nation is essentially populated by armed civilians. Might be a little hypocritical. I hope your troops get home before this year closes out though, things don't seem to be changing at any great pace. I understand the UK troops are supposed to be home soon.

OT, are you guys watching the World Cup? I like your team. I do believe they're the only side in the entire competition playing fair. Which is why they're doing so badly. No diving, no screwing around, just straight forward football. S'refreshing. Good luck for the Ghana game by the way, I hope yall go through to the knockout stages. ;)

Well, technically the war is over and has been for some time. The fact that he's still talking about "winning" is a backsided admission that we lost, even thought we didn't really lose, we just haven't obtained the goal of making Iraq stable yet. If I remember correctly, it took 7 years to make Japan stable after WWII, and they had a fairly cooperative society to our occupation of their land. I think somewhere along the line, Bush actually honestly confused the Iraq War with the War on Terrorism in a speak or sumfin and he's been stuck using defeatest terms ever since.

Well there are a lot of america citizens who actually beleive that we are a whole lot safer by going to war in Iraq and the surrounding countries. My son spent 18 months over there and thank god he came home. Back in my days I served 12 months in South East Asia and survived the chaos and came home to lead a very productive life. Those that came home to a life of despair, heartache and loss off normal life have no one to blame but themselves because of the illegal drug use just to get them thru the day. It was just an excuse to get and stay high and that way when they just opened fire it didn't matter whom they shot they just knew they gained another victory. Well, getting back to Iraq there is the same thing going on. The soliders that are being tried or will be tried for crimes commited were they in their right mind without being under the influence or were they just pissed off because their friends just got slaughtered. I actually beleive that when an incident occurs that every person should be tested immediatly for illegal drug use. If you don't think it's a problem then you all are totally dummies. In closing I have but one thing to say- MR. BUSH WE DON'T BELONG IN IRAQ AND THE THREAT OF SCUMBAG HUSSEIN HAD NO REAL THREAT TO THE MAINLAND USA WHAT SO EVER. WE HAD TO GO AFTER SOMEONE BECAUSE OF 9/11. I SAY IF OUR GOVERNMENT THOUGHT THE SCUM BAG HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE 9-11 TRADGEDY WE SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT HIM HERE FOR TRIAL INSTEAD OF ALLOWING THE CIRCUS THATS GOING ON OVER THERE. OK ENOUGH OF MY VENTING. GOOD NIGHT ALL AND SLEEP PEACEFULLY KNOWING OUR MEN AND WOMEN ARE OVER THER PROTECTING OUR MAINLAND USA.
