According to the Iraqi government itself, deaths so far during the past two days are in the SINGLE DIGITS. Where'd you get the assinine 10,000 number? As for deaths during sanctions, those deaths are Saddam Hussein's fault. The U.N. gave him simple choice, disarm or the sanctions stay in place. He choose not to disarm. He choose to kill his own citizens. As for your number about deaths as a result of sanctions, you are again wrong. Even the most highest figures (again, from UNICEF by way of the Iraqi government) put that number closer to 1 million. That is a truly awful figure, but 25 million people died during WWII. You say "ten times that amount" have died as a result of sanctions. Do you really believe that TEN TIMES as many people died as a result of sanctions than actually live in Iraq?

I don't know why you guys are trying to argue with people who (a) can't spell, (b) can't have a respectful debate, (c) can't express coherent thoughts, (d) can't go three words without saying fuck, which apparently will plug up holes in their arguments, and (e) have got to be, like, thirteen.

Even if their arguments did hold weight, can anyone really expect to sway others with all of that ranting hatred? No? Then what is the point? It'd be just as effective to just punch people they disagree with in the face. There are plenty of rational people who make their point against this war with logic and reason, not anger and yelling. And they have a far better chance of effecting some change than blind ragers.

war from a civilian's perspective: not a mantled and rouged CNN clown

This is especially and sincerely directed at those gentle souls among us
who believe that Iraqi children (note that I didn't say "innocent Iraqi
children" because that claim seems to rouse wrath in many a kind heart)
are better dead than alive during an evil Saddam's reign. And that their
"brave sacrifice" will pave the way for future happiness of Texas Oil
Barons (oops, did I actually say that aloud?).

My pedagogic poetry book back in school had a screed by Robert Southey
telling us about an old man speaking in hushful tones of awe of an
ancient war, the evidence of whose futility is brought to him in the
form of a skull in the hands of his curious grandchild. Upon further
inquiry, the old man fondly reminesces:

There are four types of people in the world. Ones who DON'T KNOW but they DON'r KNOW that they DON't KNOW. There are others that DON'T KNOW but they KNOW that they DON't KNOW. The third category is of people who KNOW but they DON'T KNOW that they KNOW. And the last of people who KNOW and they KNOW that they KNOW. In my years of experiences with the average American I have found that they belong to the second category. It's not that I hate americans in general. But I hate the general American attitude examples of which are scattered all over this page. I have been born and brought up in America. But I hate to call myself an American. I am ashamed when I see the american media mourning the death of a couple of Americans and then looking for reasons to justify the killing of so many innocent people who are just non-americans. It's good that Amerca cares about it's people. But it's plain and simple hypocrisy to justify the deaths of other races. The people who got killed in the 9/11 attacks are dead now. There is nothing that can be done that will bring them back. But this does not justify your killing any single soul in the entire world. And look at what has happened to the people from the arab world. You talk of freedom, democracy, rights and what not. At the same time you go around discriminating against people who belong to a a particular region/religion/race. Does this not show how hypocritical your ideals are. Does it not show your double standards. Your system breathes because of the oil you obtain from them, and you say you hate them. Are they expected to tolerate all the excesses that you and your forces commit on them. If I were an Iraqi and I had similar excesses done to me. If my house had been gutted by your forces, and if my life and everything that mattered to me was plundered by you and your forces, I would have married an Iraqi woman and had 100 children and I would have raised them with stories of how my house my families and my dreams were destroyed because a madman wanted more oil for his company and for his people. I would have asked each one of them to kill and destroy each and every american they came upon. I would have raised them to destroy any dream that any american ever dreamt. I would have raised them to believe the truth that there is only one terrorist in the whole world and that is the one which keeps contradicting itself in justifying every war/misery it inflicts upon other people.
My life was really great before september 11, 2001. I used to believe that I was living in the greatest country in the world. I believed that every person had the right and freedom to speak what they wanted to. I was under the illusion that my country stands for something and those things were "good". I have been affected worst by the attacks, not just because I realized what my country stands for is nothing but a farce. Everything that my politicians say or do is superficial, but because I realized that the people in my country as well as some others outside it were no better. Infact they are worse. We call ourselves cultured, civilized. If what I see around me these days is what being civilized is all about then I would rather return to the uncivilized world. I have always seen and believed that suffering makes us better human beings. It pains my heart to see and read about the pains that the jews had to go through during the second world war. But then I realize that what hitler did was for the purification of his own people and then I realize what Bush is doing is for the economic prosperity of his own people. Both of them never gave a thought to what their atrocities would bring to the people at the receiving ends of such actions. It is not possible for me to differentiate between the two actions after this thought comes to my mind. How is it that very few people in a country where people believe they are rational cannot see this? How is it that most people can see the killings of so many people as mere entertainment when they have gone through the same horrors and misery at some point of time. But then I realize to hell with it. The people of this country have accepted a way of life that the powers that be have selected for them. There is no point in banging your head against the walls. And then I realize that telling people of this "great country" all this is the very same thing. Whatever anybody may say or do is not going to affect them. Because they are all "cold meat". That injustice is done in front of theor eyes does not affect them any more. They are part of a league and they have brainwashed themselves this way. Before they do or say something, it has become second nature for them to think, "If it doesn't affect me, to hell with it". SO my dear friends this is the last time, I am writing on this page. Because I do not want to address "dead people". I do not want to say anything to people, who have no conscience, people who are dead from inside. I just wanna die because I cannot bear to be among such people anymore.
