mg

you're driving me insane, kiss me once more, that's another thing I like you for

by mg at 07:54 AM on January 10, 2005

I don’t usually participate in any sort of bloggy, meme type things, but I’m going join the crowd on this one because a) like that really bad b-sides and covers disc recorded by an artist just to fulfill his record contract, this’ll be an easy way to fulfill my self-imposed mandatory weekly post count, and b) my posts haven’t generated a fiery butt load of comments recently, and this meme is all about comments.

So, here it is: You leave a comment on this entry, and I’ll respond with something cool about you. If you don’t comment very often, you’ve never commented before, or there isn’t anything cool about you, I’ll just make it up. And just to share the love, when you leave your comment, you should say something you think is cool about me. No one should need to make that part up.

This is your chance to let me know how great I am, and for me to let you know how great you are. Who doesn’t need their ego stroked every once in a while? And to think, you wont even need to buy me a drink for me to stroke you, all you’ll have to do is hit the “submit” button.

im mostly posting this to see what you will make up about me... but even though i am new i must say i enjoy your writings immensely. Even if i can not always agree with your point of view im sure you will always induce thought and a response

by dominathan at January 10, 2005 10:19 AM

ok, i'll bite.

the coolest thing about you, mg, is the misanthropic beauty of your standard black and white thumbnail above.

that and the fact that you took a picture of a bottle of piss and posted it on your fotofone site.

by lajoie at January 10, 2005 10:32 AM

Whenever I feel that the number of comments on my site are coming in too slowly, I blame the internet, the email system and the cable connection, but never once do I consider the possibility that no one cares to comment on my offering. The coolest thing about you is that you are the originator of the 3 Minute Blog, a concept that I have never been able to forget.

by BtC at January 10, 2005 10:35 AM

Dom/N8: I have to respect someone who claims an interest in writing but doesn't know the nationality of the iconically Irish James Joyce, and isn't affraid to admit it. Also, I have a soft place in my heart for people with numbers in their name.

Lajo: You look exactly like Milo Ventimiglia and you don't even know who that is. How cool is that? Also, the packaging for your BadSam CD Exchange mix involved stichery. Stichery!

BtC: I don't know if this is a nice thing about you or not - but I've had soup five of the last six days. Also, you might be the only person alive who still remembers about the 3 Minute Blog.

by mg at January 10, 2005 1:05 PM

You are cool because you still host my silly, little blog. I hope to bring it back and even though I have my own web hosting now, I'd like to keep the blog close to Bad Sam as a subdomain.

by MrBlank at January 10, 2005 1:06 PM

i'm just back from a two week vacation in costa rica. yippie.

by JC at January 10, 2005 1:59 PM

Much like Van Halen's Diver Down you are full of cheesey goodness, and you smell good too...

by Jerry Wilson at January 10, 2005 2:24 PM

You're just cool MG, that's it. I think the coolest thing about you is that I had to drive around with a "boppy" in my car, taking all kinds of abuse from friends and co-workers until I could successfully send it off to you. Only you man, only you.

Oh, the bottle of piss is classic. It should be on a NYC tourism commercial.

by Ezy at January 10, 2005 2:24 PM

I'm gonna replace cool with breezy cos it ain't cool to use the word cool any more.

Everything about this site is breezy... From the (Is it just me or is this the cleanest site on the net? Design wise I mean. It's so clean, s'cleaner than a hospital.) design right on up to the content... So, it stands to reason the creator is as breezy as his product, eh.

Please don't make anything cool up about me though, my ego gets a generous stroking whenever I think of Christy Turlington... Yeah, I called it Ego. What? Yours doesn't have a name?

God Save Our Gracious Queen...

by Lockheed at January 10, 2005 4:25 PM

MrB: As far as I can tell, you've been coming to the site for longer than anyone who didn't know me before the site existed. For that you either rock, or are some kind of disturbed pyscho-stalker. I'll choose the former, if only so's I can sleep at night.

JC: You rock because you I can now truthfull wear my "My website visitor went to Costa Rica and all I got was this stupid comment" t-shirt.

Jerry: You rock because you can compare a person to a Van Halen album without it being meant in the least bit ironicly. You lived a couple hours away from me for a whole year and never made me feel guilty about not coming up to visit you. You make some mean waffles. Two words "Scrod boy."

Ezy: You rock because you drove around with a Boppy in your back seat for so long that by the time you actually sent it, we didn't need it anymore. You rock rock because you didn't make me feel guilty about not calling you back after you and your wife's late night call.

by mg at January 10, 2005 4:49 PM

Where do I begin? There's the menacing thumbnail that looks like you're ready to challenge someone to a fight or a duel. And dueling is something we need to bring back. You gave me a chance to post and I haven't shut up since. You found the pix of that girl I let go on the "server." *does that exagerated Dr. Evil air quotation mark thing* Stuff like that.

by Anna at January 10, 2005 6:41 PM

MG, you rock because you know me from way back in the day, when we would try to make websites pretty together. That, and because your offspring is cute.

by snaggle at January 10, 2005 7:16 PM

Jeez, your most prolific writer and I don't even rate mention when it's mandatory.

by Anna at January 10, 2005 9:55 PM

ECG-NCO: You rock for having a screen name no one has quite figured out how to shorten yet. Also, for going through all (?) of the archives and dropping comments, even if the original post was 3 years old.

Lock: You rock because, after all this time, I still can't figure out if you are a shoot or a work. And I'd really rather not know.

Anna: You rock because you don't understand that I might have an outside life and may somtimes not check the site for like 2-3 whole hours. Also, you rock because you constantly amaze me with stories of your unusual life you tell as if they were perfectly normal, yet you constantly tell stories where you are amazed by things the rest of the world would find perfectly normal. And, most of all you rock for your dillegence.

Snags: You rock because you'd edit my grammar when no one else even bothered to read the site. You rock because you've got the guts to try to make it in the big city. However, you suck because you're like the third person in the last couple days to associate my coolness to the coolness of my progeny.

by mg at January 10, 2005 10:13 PM

MG, you rock because you're a cool guy who's trying his best to figure out the world, but who sometimes gets cranky anyways. From the first time that I posted to BadSam four or maybe even five years ago, you've always been nobody except yourself, and shared that with the world on this website. I feel lucky to know you.

You also rock because you've never pestered me about being interested in contributing to your photo blog yet never bringing it up again. :( (I never upgraded my operating system so that it could work with the Bluetooth on my camera phone.)

by jean at January 11, 2005 2:04 AM

It is perfectly normal in my context. It's all I've ever known. Jean lives! Hi Jean. I've always wanted to say that.

by Anna at January 11, 2005 7:55 AM

However, MG, one must remember that one's offspring's cuteness is determined by genetic input. Which mean that I just indirectly called you & AB cute. Hm.

by snaggle at January 11, 2005 3:54 PM

Don't sweat the lack of a call back MG. I know that it's tough being a father, rock star, and the keeper of Bad Sam. That's pretty tough for one man to handle.

by Ezy at January 11, 2005 4:19 PM

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Also, there was a huge tsunami somewhere. Lots of people died. Also, Bush lost the election! Can you believe it! Some fatso named Clinton is now our commander in chief. Yikes!

by Eviltom at January 11, 2005 9:45 PM

Will soldiers really follow her commands?

by Anna at January 12, 2005 7:48 AM

MG, you rock for having this site up for so long, though some of the time it was more of a pain in your ass than something fun. You also rock for having studied LIS, something that might be in my future.
Although I haven't been keeping up on your site so much recently, I betcha I'm the only regular reader located in Nicaragua.

by Leaffin at January 12, 2005 3:05 PM

Doesn't count, you've only been in Nicaragua lately.

by snaggle at January 12, 2005 9:26 PM

Jean: You rock because you bought my daughter one of the only non-pink outfits she ever had. You rock because we met nearly four years ago when you wrote what was happening in my head almost better than I've ever been able to do since.

Leaffin: You rock, not because you're the only reader from Nicaragua (because your probably not, the site averages visits from 130 different countries a month), but because I wish I was half as adventurous. But, you also kind of suck because you've been visiting for years but have left only a handful of comments - boo!

by mg at January 13, 2005 8:12 AM

That link don't work. what did she say?

by Anna at January 13, 2005 6:16 PM

Hey, I thought that this was supposed to be all feel-good! In self-defense, I'm basically just an internet stalker and like to keep tabs on Snaggle when we're not living in the same city. And, I betcha I'm not the only non-commenter out there!

by leaffin at January 13, 2005 8:46 PM

Eh, only MG promised all the feel-good; the rest of us are allowed to be as catty as normal. :)

by snaggle at January 14, 2005 1:46 AM

In self-defense, it made me feel good :)

Yeah, there are non-commentors. I don't get that. Comment, you bastards!

by mg at January 14, 2005 7:27 AM

What do you want? This one will make 30! The barrier is broken. And so now we can get back to the usual back-biting and sniping over here.

by Anna at January 14, 2005 6:18 PM

Snaggle, I know that it's obligatory for you to be catty. I was expecting it. I mean that in the best possible way. :)

by leaffin at January 15, 2005 3:14 PM

Ugh, I am crawling back from no-broadband and life-kicking-your-butt hell. Thank you, MG! I'm so happy you remember that. Funny, I saw it recently when I was going through my blog's archives.

Poor Frannie! I'm imagining her dressed in pink all the time. Boo... babies need color too!
