This weekend was easily the best one I've had in months. I went to a show in Williamsburg on Friday and didn't get washed away by the waves of irony that the band was generating. I went to the Gap on Saturday and won a new pair of pants at the register, and I never win anything. Then I took my sister and her husband out for dinner and dessert, and we actually had a good time! No one fought/got killed at all! Later I went out to a club, didn't get hassled by the bouncer, had a few drinks and still woke up the next morning without a hangover. Seriously, just a great weekend.
Oh, and I got engaged.

Anna, did you know that if you put any text in the "extended entry" box it just appears as "continued" on this site? So easy!

CONGRATS ADAM! More proof that writing at badsam gives you good luck in the romance department. Cases in point:
MG gets engaged, has baby.
Ezy gets married.
Adam gets engaged.
Mr. Blank finds a girlfriend. If he's still with her... 6 months-ish?
Linz finds a boyfriend. It's been 10 months.
Lajoie, who has been MIA, has a girlfriend too. I think it's been about 8 months.
Jen X... appears single, but appears to be getting lots of action. Maybe for us free-ramblin' girls it takes a little longer, by choice. I was writing over a year before I found Sean. But I was enjoying the shit out of the random dating.
Jean... you are quite silent about these matters. But I bet anything you're getting some sweet ass at your command.
Anna... happily still married.
Chuck... recently began cohabiting with girlfriend.
Snaggle... Like Jean, not enough details.

Holy Crap. I just found out Adam wasn't shitting about the engagement thing. I talked to him Friday, and he hadn't mention crap about it. What in the hell happened over the weekend?

Northstar: Married, last I heard
Snaggle (whom I just saw this weekend): Not married, and considering the current political climate, not likely to be getting hitched any time soon - unless he jaunts up to San Fran some time after making the move to LA.

Hey, I can gladly report that I am happily married with one stepson in college and another just starting his senior year in high school. What a drag is is getting old...ah, not really....

I've been getting a lot of comments about this, so to sum up:
No, I wasn't kidding about the free pants. I went to the register and got one of those little contest coupons that always give you $2 off of a pair of socks or something, but for once they said, "Free pair of GAP jeans or pants."
I expected baloons to fall from the ceiling, but instead I received a warm ovation (they were already standing) from the cashiers.
Oh, and the engagement thing is true.

As for the details of the engagement, since Jim McGreevy came out, he and Adam are finally able to announce their love in public. It is a really sweet story, I'm very happy for them.
