Despite what my web persona projects, I am not all doom-and-gloom, angsty and pessimistic. I really am optimistic and somewhat happy even though I’ve got lightning and tornados flying around in the sky above me. To prove it I’m going to go on about stuff I like.
I like my website. I’ve finally found my niche, my own spot on the web that isn’t like anybody else’s. It may be simple and plain, but like I say in the bio, it suits me better now. I may expand on it in the future, as my web skills get better.
I like BadSamaritan.com. This is about the only weblog I read anymore because of the variety of authors posting — that and Linz’s sexy stories. The fact that MG is planning a BadSam gathering has me excited. MG, you aren’t thinking about backing out on this thing, are you? I want to get the hell out of Missouri and check out New York.
I like my Nikon Coolpix 4500. This camera is fantastic, but I haven’t learned how to use all of it. So far, I’ve been able to capture some great stuff with the automatic settings. Maybe MG will let me do some photo blogging here … hint, hint.
I’ve got more to list, but the sky is turning dark and green. If I had a basement I’d go in it. I guess the bathtub will have to do.

I'm not trying to back out of anything. There are just certain circumstances in my life right now are such that I wouldn't want to plan something, get everyone's hopes up, and then have to cancel. I will (hopefully) have some news about this all very shortly.

Well MG I can't wait. The curiousity is killing me. As for your bit about the new camera Mr. Blank, you've touched a nerve. I am an amateur photographer so my wife thought a digital camera would make for an ideal gift. That damn thing has been the bane of my existence ever since. Maybe the newer models are more user-friendly but mine sucks ass.

I'm glad that you are still thinking about doing it.

Anna: I also tried a Fuji Finepix 3800 and I thought it had an awsome interface. It didn't have much in the way of manual controls though. (I took it back and bought the Nikon because it had a $200 rebate and was twice the camera.) Maybe a more advanced Fuji model would be better. It took great pictures though.
The Nikon 4500 can be completely manual and there are lots of lenses and accessories out for it. It also has a macro shot mode built-in. I got some cool close-up shots of a giant moth last weekend.
A great review site for cameras here: http://www.dpreview.com/

That's scary. You have to worry about Mother Nature's random targetting. At least in Manhattan, we have gun-toting army men, swat teams, and a level of predictability. A bullet can't stop a tornado. MG? No sharing of your circumstances? Is it that bad? If so, I'm sorry.

Lockheed, why are we assuming mg's circumstances are bad? Hmmm, Mr. Pessimist??
Blank, I like your website too! I didn't even know you had it goin' on again. Is that recent profile drawing a drawing of you?

The picture on the contents page randomly places a self-portrait. So far I only have 4 different ones. I think the apeish one is my favorite.

amateur photographers, unite! seems like just about everyone's a shutterbug these days. i just bought a nikon coolpix 5700 with my tax refund and a gift certificate i randomly won. well, bought it over a week ago, just received it yesterday. but it was cheapest off the net from some place in new york, so i'm not compaining...
it's 5:13am on a SATURDAY and the only reason i'm awake is that i have to go to the airport to fly down to san diego and then bus into mexico. the girlfriend's parents wanted to do something nice for her, so i get to tag along for the ride. we're only staying one night; this weekend's gonna be a whirlwind.
but it's the perfect opportunity to play w/ the new camera...i'll let you know how i like it.
