she's posting about that damn band again

by lizard at 08:55 PM on August 05, 2001

I am posting about the damn band again. Please excuse any drunkenness that may ensue. May? Who are we kidding here?

Anyway. This was the second to the last Sunday of the band at the Banana Belt Cantina. It was marred by the fact that the county fair is in town and all roads that lead downtown are all full of cops blocking things off. But, being the ex-taxi driving Ventura expert I am, I know all alternate routes & the best parking places. Yay me. So to tell of the band, and the Sunday afternoon thereof:

Fucking amazing. Defying description. But I seem to be trying. Hot. It gets so hot in there. Suffice to say the music is so good the guy who does freelance music reviews for three local papers goes there every week just to experience it (and drink lots of beer. Everybody drinks there. It's how it is. Yay me.) It actually ocurred to me to go up to him and say, “Bill Locey, I am a *huge* fan of your writing, but let's leave the size of my ass out of this for the moment... would you be in my weblog?”, but fortunately I was denied that opportunity to make a fool of myself by the fact he left before i got drunk enough to walk up to him and say that.

So. I have been drinking and would like to apologize in advance for how I'll feel tomorrow when I find out I've posted this. Especially considering I've posted about the band before, and therefore it's possible this is boring. However consider this: it is the second-to-last time in the universe (as far as I'm concerned) that this will happen. This scene. This music. These people drinking and dancing the dance that hippies dance, half-rhythm, half-hula-hand-poetry. This Sunday baptism by sweat, and let me try and fail to express what it smells like: sex. The pheromones on the dance floor could cause orgasms in succeptible subjects. Like me, but let's leave me out of this. Please.

I would like to promise I'll never post about this band again, that I'll quietly shut up about the whole thing and get on with my life. Fat chance. I'll be there next weekend, the last time, with my camera, and sure as hell those pictures and my babblings about them will end up on the internet somewhere. Maybe here, but only if I receive some encouragement on the subject. Otherwise, this is it...

The End

Yay, drunk posts! Yay, knowing you shouldn't do it and doing it anyway. :) You've made me feel better about my post, anyway.

well i actually sacrificed my settings to go see your beautifully drunken post over at spacecheese, my *favorite* site above all others, however i was thwarted by some DNS shit. my comments even on EVIL msn met an untimely 404. bummer. however: drunk on the internet is an *art* goshdarnit, & ... oh i should shut up now, i will so regret this.

however i did try to post on spacecheese, the universe fcuked me up in my endeavors, life skucs, etc...

I attempted a drunken post once but I don't have the skills, obviously, I didn't even look drunk. I did a better job when I talked about being drunk the night before, you could feel the alcohol seeping from those words.

Congratilations, kd and Gordon...you two are masters of the drunken ramble.

I'm starting to get quite nervous about my impending online judging of my H2G2 inspired cocktail competition. Especially since some of my younger, more impressionable readers seem to have the impression that I will be broadcasting the whole sorry spectacle on my webcam.
